Fans Despair “We Might Never See Him”

July 1, 2058: Forever Land: News that Carlos Flores was coming to the Atoll got fans worked up into a real feeding frenzy at Krill gift shops around the world, but news of his first outing brought concern to fans around the globe.

The veteran lefty suffered tendonitis in the shoulder, and has been put on the team’s AAA Injured List while he rehabs.

“I don’t think it’s anything really serious, but it’s good to get it taken care of now,, Flores said after the team’s trainer wrapped him in atomic ice. He has just completed a solid 20inning stint wherein he struck out two and allowed only one hit. “It felt good to be back on the hill again,” said the 4-time Nebraska winner.

Team officials had no comment when asked how long the pitcher’s injury might keep him down other than to note that he’d had a small set-back and that there was no definitive timetable. “It’s important that Carlos is healthy,” of course, said assistant GM Dustin Zuniga. “That’s the most important thing of all. So we won’t really be setting any kind of timetable until we see what kind of improvement comes about.”

Fans are worried. “I’m not sure it’s a good thing when a 37-year-old gets tendonitis first time out of the chute,” said Marky Mike McDonnahey, a virtual tattoo artist in Barcelona who holds season tickets to the Krill games. “I’m concerned that Carlos may never pitch again.”

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
