ORIGIN STORY
If you follow the Krill at all, you already know the basics. That Fernando Bushey was a bit of a reach of a pick (it seems), but that that Swing of Thunder and his down-home reputation as a guy who would chew through his wrist to get better made it impossible to pass him up. So the Bikini front office grabbed him at #2 in the overall draft this year, and have plunked him down in Short-A ball with the Port au Prince Purple Aces to see what he’ll do with some semi-real professional coaching.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SINCE
Well…only seven games have been played, but the results have not been stellar.

Bushey came out of the gate 4-for-29, good for a eye-bending .138 average, but with a double and—importantly—no homers. Kid’s gotta hit for power if he’s gonna stick, that’s all we’ll say for now. His fielding has been mediocre, making only 9 of 11 routine plays. Yes, I know sample size, sample size, sample-size.

But you’d still like something encouraging.

At least he is 1-1 stealing bases.

WHAT'S TO COME
Despite being thought of as nearly fleshed out at 20 years old, look for Bushey to stay at Port au Prince all season. Unless, maybe he suddenly starts ripping pitchers at that level so roundly that he demands to be promoted.

We’ll see what the numbers say then, but…

LONG TERM PROJECTION
With luck we could see Bushey skip A and go straight to AA next season. That is likely the plan, anyway, though of course situations can change. From that point, the team could well skip him again in 2060, which would mean he would debut then.

Time and necessity will tell.
