Bikini Exec Loosens Budget Strings
January 31, 2057: Forever Land: With the season ticket turnstiles beginning to buzz even harder after an exciting season final run, and a set of early off-season splashed highlighted by the signing of veterans Shea Valance and Gilberto Falconelli, the Bikini financial offices added fuel to the fire by releasing a report that showed the club’s top-end budget had been expanded by $4M—from $116M to $120M.
“That’s not a typo,” said assistant GM Dustin Zuniga at a team outing in Perth, Australia, where he and three of the teams’ players greeted fans at Albie’s Sporting Goods and Bar-b-que Service.
The news has spread worldwide among the Krill Thrill, who are now speculating on how the team will use the funds to bring additional players into the fold. Most are pointing to top-end starters Jose Barron and Steffan Gimsing, with some saying the Krill have already come to deals with both of them, and are now just waiting for the right moment to drop the news.
“It’s all a PR game,” said Dawn Justice, a Jet-Ski manager at the Forever Land Amazement Center. “It feels so great to know the team is getting better and better.”
Of course, calmer heads might note that $4M is not really enough to entice such names to the team, but fans are thirsty for a winner, and thirsty fans are not known for their rationality.
“We’re happy to have the funds, and I’m sure we can use them for good purposes. If nothing else, we can try to help more fans see that Earth’s Team is the place to be,” Zuniga finished. “But mostly we’re excited about the bump because it’s a sign that our leaders think we’re on the right path.”
