Fervent Fans Find Forever Land Fun

September 18, 2057: Forever Land – With a 6-2 victory over the Valencia Stars, Bikini’s first home season came to an end. The team finished 34-47 in the park, good for a .419 wining percentage, considerably better than their current .267 run-rate on the road.

“We love this place,” said rotation ace Samuel Nebraska. “The park is beautiful, and the Atoll is amazing when we can have the roof and side-vents open. The fans were great. I couldn’t have imagined a better environment.”

The season is a resounding mark of confidence for a club that started with nothing but question marks. Could the team entice fans to use the new-tech Come Together Doors, or would they stay home with the completely unproven worries that their … um … dingus might fall off? No one knew. Would the signing of long-suffering GM Ron Collins to lead the front office result in an October loss? Well … not yet, anyway. But the fans didn’t care.

After a bit of a mid-season swoon, the club went on an extended process of bringing in interesting players and acts, and the fans turned out in droves through August and September. It all added up to over 2.1 million people coming through that Door, and registering their fervent fanaticism as high as 85 on the league’s proprietary “Fan Interest” scale. Even more impressive were the Krill's two sell out crowds on the final home weekend of the season.

Not bad for a club that was in the low 40s at the beginning of the year.

“It’s a testament to the whole concept of Mr. Westmoreland’s Forever Land,” said GM Ron Collins. “The whole place is awesome. His vision is astounding.”

To help make this happen, of course, the club also cut prices from the Seattle traditional $28 a ticket, adjusting the number gently at times through the season. “It was important to keep the ticket prices low when the Heartland came into town,” Collins said, “because … well … Heartland.” But despite ticket reductions as much as 50% lower than last season, the club’s home game revenue jumped from a reported $8.5 million to something over $10.5 million.

“They really do this right,” said Cal Jansen, of South Bronx. “They call this Earth’s Team, and you really do feel it. Good entertainment. Great price.”

Collins was obviously pleased with this part of the team’s performance, but he also clearly had his eye on next year. “Me and my entire staff want to thank fans across the globe, and let everyone know we’re already focusing on how to make the team even more fun to watch next year. So sign up for the season ticket newsletter, and we’ll see you again real soon.”
