Heading into the offseason, Seattle fans are left to wonder what comes next for their beloved Storm. First and foremost, Seattle faces a decision with what to do with Chairman Mao, whose contract is up and will be entering free agency. While there have been rumors that Seattle has made Mao a few offers, nothing concrete has taken shape, and it appears likely that Mao will at least test the market.
Mao might very well be priced out of Seattle, because it appears that Seattle will be facing a bit of a budget crunch in the coming offseason, with limited room to maneuver. If that's the case, then Seattle might need to look internally to replace Mao and anyone else who might be leaving. When asked to comment on the team's financial status, GM Nathan Eagan was rather tight-lipped, saying only "we'll have to see what develops." It's certainly possible that Seattle will attempt to make a trade or two in order to free up some room under the salary cap, but it's unclear what the cost of such a move would be, or what players would be leaving Seattle.
One thing is certain; this will be an exciting time for Seattle, and we'll be very excited to see what the 2046 edition of the team looks like.
