Chasing The Storm 2044-3 An Early Exit

Post by njherdfan » Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:39 am

Seattle's 2044 season came to a bit of an early end last week, as the Storm bowed out of the Geoghegan Round of the playoffs in a 5-game defeat to the Hawaii Tropics. After jumping out to a 2-1 series lead, Seattle lost a 4-3 decision in game 4, and then were shut out (and dominated) by Alaric Wullenweber in game 5, for a 2-0 final. Ultimately, Seattle fans appear to be disappointed that they lost 2 straight games to end their season, they are very happy that Seattle managed to make the playoffs at all.

After a run of several terrible seasons, it appears that Seattle's offseason strategy of focusing on its defense and pitching paid off. Of course, those who are a bit more cynical might point out that Seattle also got very lucky this season, the Storm actually had a -26 run differential and still managed to post a record of 87-75. By all accounts, posting a record that good is not sustainable, and Seattle will have quite a bit of work to do this offseason, and next season, if it wants to have any sort of sustained success.

We will be turning to Seattle's top individual performers, along with Seattle's plans for the offseason, in the coming days, but for now, it seems as if Seattle fans will need to take a day or 2 to get over the disappointing playoff exit while still appreciating the opportunity to get to watch meaningful baseball games in September and October; for a long time Seattle fans had taken the playoffs as a birthright, but a drought of several seasons has certainly made Seattle fans more appreciative of this year's success.
