One aspect of baseball that makes it so special is that fans of professional teams almost always have new players to look forward to. Even in the midst of a dreary regular season, fans can turn to the minor leagues and dream about the new prospects that will carry their team to glory. It's not clear if the Seattle Storm have any such prospects waiting in the wings, but it's still worth looking at 2 of Seattle's top prospects who are likely to make the majors sometime this season.
On the mound, Yasir bin Lufti is biding his time in AAA as he waits for his call-up to the bigs. bin Lufti was originally signed as an amateur free agent, and he has slowly and steadily worked his way up Seattle's minor league system. Currently, bin Lufti has an ERA of 4.44 and a FIP of 3.93 in AAA, so it's not as if he's completely forcing Seattle's hand. However, the bottom of Seattle's rotation has been weak enough that bin Lufti will likely be an improvement whenever he's called up. Scouts have long been impressed by bin Lufti's arsenal, as he throws four pitches and can generally command them well. For whatever reason, however, his performances have historically not matched his talent; Seattle fans are hopeful that that will change soon.
Seattle fans have an interesting relationship with Alexander Julyan. Julyan was signed for a whopping $22 million bonus in 2037, so Seattle fans have long been familiar with him and the skill set he possesses. While this is the sixth season in which Julyan has been a part of the Storm organization, Julyan is still not in the major leagues. Julyan's development has been slower than many in Seattle hoped, but it's worth noting that he is still only 22 years old. Julyan has been described as a true five-tool player, and he is currently holding his own at AAA with a wRC+ of 91 while playing excellent defense in center field. Because Julyan has been in Seattle's system for so long, he is on the 40-man roster, and he is in his final option year. If he doesn't make the bigs this season, then next year will be a major decision point, as Seattle will be forced to carry him, whether or not he's ready. Seattle fans are hoping that this season will be huge for his development, and he can finally mature into the star they've long envisioned.

I like Lutfi. He'll be interesting to watch.
Julyan needs to progress some. Age 22 and still has some ways to go!
