It was opening weekend of the 2041 season and so, for at least a little while, Seattle's fans were able to forget the disastrous 2040 campaign and hope that better things would soon be in store. The results were not great, as Seattle went 2-3 in its first 5 games, and scored 22 runs while allowing 25. Let's take a look at some of Seattle's best and worst performers.

TOP PERFORMERS: It's pretty clear that there were two offensive standouts through 5 games, and if Seattle is to have a successful season, these 2 will need to carry much of the load. Todd Rice and Vincent Vanderhuigen were both fantastic. Through 5 games, Rice posted an OPS of 1.174 and a batting average of .478. Not to be outdone, Vanderhuigen had an OPS of 1.242. Unforutnately for Seattle, much of the rest of the offense went cold, but hopefully improvement is on the horizon. On the mound, Luther Summers was fantastic as he went 7 innings and allowed only 1 run while striking out 7.

WORST PERFORMERS: There are plenty of people to choose from here, but it's hard to do worse than Manuel Hernandez, who posted an OPS of .230. If this keeps up, he probably won't get too many more chances. On the mound, Miguel Angel Garza was hard to miss, as he gave up 4 runs in 1/3 of an inning to ruin Luther Summers' excellent start.

Ouch. Guess Garza was still in off-season mode.
