Opening day arrived in Seattle, and the purple-clad Storm supporters couldn't wait to see what the hometown team would have in store. While there were some new faces, and the absence of Juan Escobar for the first time in what seemed like forever, there were also a lot of familiar faces suiting up for Seattle. The Storm went 4-2, sending most of Seattle's fans home happy. Let's take a look at some of the best and worst performers.
Top Performers: New acquisition Michael Durham made Seattle look like geniuses for acquiring him, as he posted a 1.048 OPS. Not to be out done, Lionnel Crepin mashed 2 homers en route to a 1.278 OPS, which led the team. On the mound, Ken Walter led the way. In his 2 starts, he struck out 17 hitters over 14.1 innings. The only slight cause for concern is that Walter surrendered 4 homers over those 14.1 innings, but Seattle fans are hopeful that this was just a blip.
Worst Performers: It's hard to do much worse than Rubem Bordonhos did to start the season. His OPS of .182 indicates that there's nowhere to go but up, however! On the mound, Alfredo Contreras struggled in his 1 start, as he gave up 10 hits and 8 earnmed runs in 5 innings. Again, some improvement will be needed from him soon, before Seattle fans start to get too antsy.
