Chasing The Storm 2036-8 The Season's Top Rookie

Heading into the 2036 season, Seattle Storm fans, like fans everywhere, had some questions about what their team would look like in the coming season. One question that Seattle fans did not have, however, was about who would be playing shortstop. Everyone knew that the answer to that question was Lloyd Braun.
Apparently someone forgot to let Rubem Bordonhos know about the foregone conclusion. Bordonhos began his career as a relatively unheralded 2nd round pick in 2034. One thing stuck out about him, however: he hit like a man possessed at every level he played at. In 2035, when he had just turned 19, he put up an OPS of 1.058 in AA. Needless to say, those are the kind of numbers that will get you noticed in a hurry.
Still, however, no one expected to Bordonhos in Seattle so quickly. After all, Seattle had traded highly-touted prospect Quant Kouros to Las Vegas with the understanding that they were acquiring the shortstop of the future when they traded for Braun. Bordonhos's performance in spring training changed all of that, and Seattle had no way to keep him out of the lineup once the season began. To his credit, Braun moved to second base where he performed very well, and Bordonhos took over the shortstop position, and it doesn't look like he'll be moving any time soon.
In 139 games, Bordonhos posted an OPS of .764, which is almost exactly league average. More importantly, he was terrific in the field, saving his team over 6 runs while only making 11 errors and playing an incredibly demanding position. He also stole 37 bases and finished 3rd in the Rookie of the Year voting, as he accumulated 3.3 WAR.
Bordonhos put together one of the best rookie seasons Seattle has seen in a very long time, and Seattle fans will be anxious to see what he can do for an encore in 2037.
