After a 4 year drought, the fans of the Seattle Storm are celebrating their team's return to the postseason, as the Storm won the Frick League Frontier Division in a one-game playoff against the Calgary Pioneers. Of course, this being the Storm, nothing came easy. After beating Calgaryin its 159th game, Seattle had 3 games left against the Boise Spuds, who finished the season with a record of 55 and 103. Three of those wins came in their last 3 games against the Storm, as the Storm were somehow swept by the Spuds. Axel Angwin, who had been nothing short of fantastic all season, blew saves in the series' first 2 games, and the Storm were unable to pull out a victory in game 3. Fortunately for Seattle, the Pioneers performed just as poorly, and lost their remaining 3 games as well, pushing the Storm and Pioneers into a tie atop the division, and forcing a 1-game playoff, with the winner winning the division and the loser taking a wild-card spot.
Seattle won the one-game playoff 8-3, and their reward will be a 5-game series against, you guessed it, Calgary. Storm fans are a bit anxious that Alfredo Contreras likely won't be available until game 3, but they remain hopeful that the Storm's run of excellent play this season will continue; only time will tell.

I think Seattle could be a surprise team. If you really take a good look at them, they are better then most will give them credit for. And if it comes to a deciding game, I'll take Ken Walter up against just about anyone.

Seattle just never went away. Calgary fans know that better then anyone, I suppose. Great season.

Thanks, all. I would have been much more confident with a 1-2 of Walter/Contreras in a playoff series, but we'll see what happens.

There is some poetic justice to Calgary and Seattle being matched again. Like a heavyweight title match that goes until one or the other is actually knocked out.
