Chasing The Storm 2035-4 Sim 2 Review

Post by njherdfan » Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:58 am

Don't look now, but it looks like something legitimately exciting could be taking place in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. After going 5-0 to start the season, the Storm followed that up by going 5-1 in its next 6 games, and outscored their opponents 37-20. Let's take a look at some of Seattle's best and worst performers from the most recent sim.

TOP PERFORMERS: To the surprise of absolutely no one, Juan Escobar was outstanding again. Perhaps out to prove a point after he was left unprotected in the expansion draft, Escobar has been nothing short of fantastic. In the most recent sim, he posted a preposterous 1.312 OPS and added 3 more home runs. Not to be outdone, William McIntyre showed that age is only a number, as the 41 year old posted a 1.148 OPS and even stole 2 bases. Just about all of Seattle's pitchers, with 1 massive exception, were fantastic. Ta-Heng Hor pitched a complete game, Axel Angwin threw 6 scoreless innings, and Alfredo Contreras gave up 1 run in 8 innings. That all works.

WORST PERFORMERS: At the plate, the only notably bad performance came from Manny Montanez, who put up a .390 OPS over 6 games. At least his adjustment to second base appears to be going well. On the mound, it's clear who the worst performer of the sim (and almost certainly the season) is. After the storm took an 8-3 lead in the top of the 13th against Wichita, Zoraide Anto only needed to get 3 outs without allowing 6 runs. He got 2 outs and allowed a walk-off grand slam that gave Seattle its only loss of the season so far. That's not good.

It's looking like a big year for Seattle. Fingers crossed. Happy to see McIntyre pulling some numbers. I think the video of him stealing probably had to have gone viral.
