In many ways, this season has been an unmitigated disaster for the Seattle Storm. That has been essentially true for the man who has been the franchise's best player for so long; Jorge Rodriguez has an OPS that's struggling to climb above 600, and he's been worth negative WAR this season. However, it's important to take note of what Rodriguez has managed to accomplish this season. This season, he has joined the 500 home run club and the 2500 hit club.
On June 14th, Rodriguez launched his 500th career home run, which makes him only the 17th person in MBWBA history to join that illustrious club. While he already held Seattle's career record, he has only put that record further out of reach. Rodriguez is now up to 504 home runs, and if he manages to hit 4 more home runs, he will move past Joe Belinda, into 16th on the all time home run list.
On September 11th, Rodriguez stroked his 2500th career base hit. While he is unlikely to pass Juan Escobar as Seattle's career leader for hits, Rodriguez is 2nd all time in Seattle's record books for base hits. While Seattle has been struggling this season, they are only 1.5 games out of a wild-card spot, and if Rodriguez gets hot, perhaps he can help lead Seattle to the playoffs one final time.

Very happy that Seattle fans had something to cheer about...and that the glimmer is still there. The Storm could still wind up being the story of the year.

I really thought you'd be better this year. Been watching Jorge forever. He's an all time great.

He is an all-time great. I thought we'd be better too. Hoping that a young staff can lead the charge next season.
