Big Names Head to Atoll, Port au Prince
December 1, 2064: Marshall Islands – The dust related to the Bikini Krill’s organizational shift Seems to be settling. Reports today come that the team has filled the last three spots in their coaching depth chart, with each name perhaps drawing more interest than the last.
“We are making a statement that Bikini is the place to be,” said assistant general manager Monica Green. “We like hall of Famers, and we like Hall of Fame candidates. We like having guys that our kids can look up to, in probably idolized as they were young boys playing stickball in the street.”
The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
The parent clubs new third base coach will be X big league pitcher Luis Gracía, who spent The last 15 years coaching and managing in the minor leagues, and his playing career pitching at a high level in the Sacramento organization. Normally the club steers clear of personnel from other Pacific division rivals, but Gracia was made the exception. “I hope we have a steady stream of guys for him to point toward home base for,” said staff meet Ronnie Hubbard, the teams new hitting coach.
Perhaps the more exciting news came all the way down in a Port au Prince, where are the clubs Short-A club plays. The clubs lone remaining staff member after retirements and promotions, was hitting coach Ramón Pagán, who has over 600 career home runs in the BBA. He will be joined by fresh blood in the form of first time manager Cinema Jones, and Hall of Fame pitcher Carlos Flores. Jones was well respected as a ballplayer, and as a teammate. He had a long and productive career as a marquee level center fielder, and received votes for the Brewster Hall of Fame. This will be his first role as a coach, but those who know him say he's destined for his success. Flores, of course, brings a fleshy resume that includes for Nebraska awards, and his own position in that Hall of Fame.
“It's going to be a star-studded staff,” said Misty Morgan, baseball anchor at the Foreverland Sports Network. “It won't be too surprising if the Purple Aces draw a record number of fans just to get into pregame autograph lineups!”
Time will tell if any of these signings will reap benefits, but for now it seems the Bikini Krill front office’s job is done when it comes to finding quality support for their ballplayers.
