TRIO NEARING RETURN

June 17, 2063 Rule V draft pick Isaac Buggins drove in the deciding run tonight, driving a double to deep left-center that scored Napoleon Mellott (who had walked on four pitches before Buggins), and giving fans of Earth's team a rousing 7-6 walk-off victory. "That was just the latest example of Next Man Up," said manager Kate Fiscus in the postgame presser. "That's who this team is, you know? I love that we're relying on each other. Napoleon could have goen up there and swung for the fences, you know? I mean, he's the hot hand we've got right now. But he did his job and took four bad ones, which is what gave Izzy the chance to be the hero. I think you guys need to get used to the idea that our baseball club has some pretty okay players on it."

Her tone was a bit snippy perhaps because pundits have downplayed certain predictions that the Krill could win the Pacific Division.

"I believe in this team," she said. "I see parts of these guys day in and day out. That you don't see. I know what I'm talking about. To be a game back from the division lead while our shortstop and closer are on the injured list says a ton, not to mention that one of the bullpen arms we were depending on has been out all year."

She went on to report that all three of those players, Keith Williams, Winston Morris, and Brain Capps, were expected to begin baseball activities this week. "We're discussing if they rehab or come straight to the roster," Fiscus said. "I don't want to have to baby anyone in my clubhouse. It's important that we get them ready to go straight off the bat."

The extremely popular Williams has been hobbled with a high ankle sprain that has kept him sidelined for six weeks. Morris was diagnosed with tenodonitis a few weeks back, also, and Capp has been under care for shoulder inflammation since going down during his first outing of the season. Capp and Morris are expected to be throwing baseballs in the next few days. Williams should be back a few days later.

"I like how we've been holding it together for a while now," Fiscus said. "Me and all of my staffs have been preaching the grind-it-out approach. Win this series, split that one. Just keep the whole thing vibrating and things will come out all right, I always say. Let us get healthy and we'll see what happens next."
