ROOKIE PITCHER DROPS ERA TO A COOL 9.00
June 16, 2063 With fans beginning to clamor for kid pitcher Paul Glass to be sent down to just about any other team in the planet, the kid took the mound tonight and pitched the gem that the Bikini Krill front office had been looking for since the moment they drafted him not even a month ago. That he out-dueled ex-Krill pitcher Jon Brown (now with Loserville) to do it was perhaps just that much sweeter.

Glass Earns 1st
Career Win"I didn't do anything different," the 21-year-old righthander said after that game. "But I'll say that I wasn't nervous. Baseball is baseball. Whatever happens is going to happen."
What happened was seven innings of four-hit, shutout baseball, with four strikeouts and no walks. The club needed it, too, as the bats got him only 1 run. "It's nice to be able to make something like that stand up," Glass said. "I've let the guys down often enough so far that I owed them a win on a night the bats struggled."
Glass got through the first inning on four pitches, and the second inning on nine (despite hitting Gustavo Canales with a one-strike fastball that had Canales and catcher Pedro Jimenez chuckling together. "He said it felt like a BP guy got wild," Jimenez answered after that game, about the velocity Glass throws with. "Paul is a good pitcher," Jimenez added. "He's going to be fine."
Glass entered the game with a 14.73 ERA in five outings, one in relief. He allowed seven runs in a third of an inning at Brook Park in his second start, which doesn't help. All total his ERA today stands at a cool 9.00.
"I guess that's something to tell the grandkids about," he quipped.
At present, the outing was at least enough to save his roster spot for another week, which is something else.
