Sanz Causing AAA
Pitcher's PainsApril 15, 2063 At only twenty years old, Bikini prospect Ramon Sanz knows it was probably for the best that he head back to AAA-Pasco this season, but that didn't make the disappointment any easier to swallow. "I'm just trying to show I can play up there, said tonight after he hit for the cycle while leading his team to an 8-4 over the Commerce Yard Goats, the AAA affiliate of the Long Beach baseball team. His game started with a HBP, so ultimately he was on base all five at bats.
Sanz is hitting .357, with an 1.035 OPS while hitting three homers in 61 plate appearances. In the field he's made one error, but has still registered a solid 1.9 ZR in this early seasonleading some to doubt scouts who suggest the native of Reno, Nevada may not be up for the defensive rigors of the position.
"He's sure-handed," said manager Jose Guerra. "I trust him out there."
We're thinking he's showing that he could be up in the bigs now.
Oksuzian On Streak

1B Looks ReadyApril 22, 2063 Kamloops 1B Mauro Oksuzian picked up right where he left off last season. He went 1-for-4 last night, meaning he's had at least one hit in every game so far this year, and has run his official hitting streak to 28 games. Of his twenty-one this season, ten have been multi-hit affairs, including four hits against Beaumont, and three vs. Santa Cruz. He's blasted a pair of homers, and is slashing .417/.438/.571 in his second season with the Moops, leading many to suggest that it might be time for the club to jump him past AAA and straight to the atoll.
"We're thinking McClure needs to go," said Mash Henry, a Kamloops fan, referring to the constant struggles of Bikini first-baseman Mike McClure. "I'll be sad to see him go, but the kid can hit."
