Chasing The Storm 2052-1 Optimism In The Air?

Post by njherdfan » Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:59 am

As the snow starts to melt and it stays brighter for longer, baseball fans are able to embrace the optimism that accompanies the start of each new season. Few fan bases were more in need of optimism than Seattle's, as the Storm have been nothing short of awful for the past few seasons. Truth be told, the expectations for Seattle this season are not much better, but that's something that Seattle fans can worry about in the future, as the 2052 season got off to a terrific start for the Storm, who jumped out to a 4-2 record and a positive run differential.

Going into this season, Seattle, largely because of its perilous cap situation, did not make very many moves to strengthen the team. Instead, it was clear that any improvements would have to come from the players already on the roster, with special attention paid to the starting pitching.

To that end, Seattle fans have to be happy with what they've seen from Joe Jackson, last year's top rookie, who fans hope has made a leap into something better. So far in his two starts, Jackson has an ERA of 2.61 and he pitched well in both of his outings. Seattle also made the decision to move Len Conboy, who has closed for Seattle in the past, to the rotation. There had previously been concerns about whether Conboy would have the stamina to hold up as a starting pitcher in the MBWBA, but Seattle's front office made the decision that it would be a worthwhile experiment to try and discover what he could do. Although it's only been one start, that decision appears to be paying off, as Conboy went 6.1 innings and only allowed one run.

Of course, there will be plenty of time for things to go wrong for Seattle, but so far, fans are happy and have been enjoying seeing some energetic, winning baseball, which has served as a welcome change from years past.

Love moving Conboy to the rotation- I think that will pay big dividends for you.

They don't like optimism in Seattle. Lesson learned.
