Surfers Defeat Mounties in Geoghegan Round

The Long Beach Surfers needed five games, but they emerged victorious against the Vancouver Mounties. Game 5 saw Travis Wilson as an opener, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings. The offense exploded for 13 runs led by veterans Fernando Castillo and Cinema Jones, who each contributed three RBI in the contest. Series MVP was CI/DH Terry Cole who hit .375, with one home run, five RBI and 4 runs scored in the five games.

Surfers Swept out of Doubleday

The juggernaut Nashville Bluebirds swept the Long Beach Surfers 4-0 in the best of seven Doubleday Series. The Surfers put up a fight, losing games 1 and 4 by just two runs, and game 2 by three runs. Nevertheless, Nashville demonstrated why the won 119 games in the regular season.

Awards

Rhys Atticus - 4th Sawyer Silk Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger Catcher

Rhys Atticus followed up a breakout 4.4 WAR 2057 season with an even better 6.7 WAR 2058 season. His OPS+ dipped from 120 to 105 but an additional 25 games at catcher helped push his WAR number up and demonstrate that he is one of, if not the best defensive catchers in the BBA today.
