Round 1 / Pick 30
Image
OF Pedro Vargas
B/T: S/R
Age: 20
Current: 5/6/6/6/6
Potential: 7/6/6/6/6
IF/OF Range: 7/7
IF/OF Error: 5/5
IF/OF Arm: 2/4
TDP: 6
SPD: 5
STL: 4
BR: 5

With the 30th overall pick in the second round, the Surfers picked twenty year old corner outfielder Pedro Vargas, out of Aflac College. Vargas is a switch hitter and shows a positive split against right handed pitching and a slightly negative split against southpaws. With his balanced approach at the plate, and middling defense he looks to primarily contribute as a fourth/platoon outfielder. Scouts rave about his intangibles, he has demonstrated excellent leadership, a high work ethic, and well above average grades in the classroom.

He's very well developed for his age, so look for him to spend just a short time in the minors acclimating to professional baseball. We are witnessing a pipeline of sorts to the Surfer corner outfield spots, with 2056 draftee Greg Clover promoted in 2057, and Fred Courtney (2057 draftee) promoted this year. Vargas will likely not be far behind with the impending departure or retirement of now 41 year old Fernando Castillo.

OFP: 50 - 1st Division Platoon OF / DH
Likely: 45 - 2nd Division OF
BBA ETA: 2059

thanks, he should be pretty good. I've been on a switch hitter kick for a while now, he'll fit right in.

Every corner outfielder will be 21-25 years old once all the olds retire.
