SURFERS REACH PLAYOFFS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE '45

October 11, 2056
Long Beach, CA

The 2056 season has come to an end for the Long Beach Surfers, and while the defeat to Des Moines in the Geoghegan Round was disappointing, the season overall should be considered a success for the franchise. The team snapped a ten year streak of missing the playoffs, the longest such streak under GM Stephen Lane who took over management of the front office in 2026. The streak was second to the 16 seasons from 2013 through 2028 that saw the team move from Long Beach to Tuscon and back before a triumphant 2029 season that saw them win 95 games and the franchise's first championship.

The 90-72 record was a 12 game improvement over the previous season, and the fans showed their support, with attendance improving from 2.86 million to 3.73 million. The team does no publish financial, but experts consulted by The Independent estimate that gate revenue nearly doubled from 2055 and in conjunction with playoff revenue, the team likely made enough to negate last seasons loss and put some money in the coffers for the ownership group led by O'Shea Jackson. Jackson, who has been the face of the ownership that acquired the team in 2033 did not provide a comment on the record for this article, but did hint that the front office was likely to see an increased budget for the 2057 season.

On the field, the success of the 2056 season came down to a well balanced mix of offense and defense. The offense, led by now three-time batting champion Ryan Geauxinue was second in the Frick League with a .273 team batting average and .332 team on-base percentage. Despite hitting just 170 home runs, the combined OPS of the team was third in the league.

On the pitching side, team ERA was ninth in the league, with the bullpen performing better overall at 3.88, good for seventh in the league. As we have come to expect from LB, the team allowed the second fewest number of walks over the course of the season, just 406. The staff was led by rookie Eng-Hee Kin who made quite a splash in his first BBA season after six years in the GBC. The Taiwanese righty made 33 starts, struck out 168 batters, and led the league with a 1.02 WHIP.

There are some questions about the state of the roster that will be clear soon after the championship series, with a number of players holding options for the 2057 season. The core of the team however, will remain intact, and at this time, we anticipate that the Surfers will again be competitive for a spot in the BBA Playoffs.

I think it's the "info" page that shows your teams splits month by month, vs LHP/RHP, 1 run games etc etc

Goes-in-you had 196 hits of which only 23 were for extra bases.

Is he available for trade?

Planning to build up enough PPT to rename my team the Sacramento Slappers

Hmm. I could use my current logo but just have a giant hand-of-god slapping him across the face… thanks, Lane!
