ATTICUS ARRIVES

June 20, 2056
Madison, WI

Rhys Atticus made his long-awaited debut this evening at Shotz Stadium in Madison, WI. The right-handed catcher was tasked with receiving for 25-year-old fireballer Lucas Wood. The battery allowed one run in the first inning, a solo home run to veteran slugger Pedro Guzman, and worked around a walk in the bottom of the second.

Atticus came to the plate for his first BBA at-bat leading off the top of the third inning against righty Boris Milatovic. He took the first pitch for a ball before drilling a line drive (EV 100.6 mph) up the middle for a single. Madison center fielder Manny Pena tossed the ball to the Long Beach dugout for authentication and preparation for a spot in Atticus' trophy case.

Wood and Atticus teamed up for 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four. The Surfers would win the game 4-2 with relief ace Scott Everard closing it out.

Though the 2052 first round pick ended the day with three hits in four at bats, he did not score or have any RBI. The star of the day on offense was fellow 2052 draftee (second round) Glenn Fox, who was 2/4 with a home run and three RBI.

Rhys is projected to be one of the top defensive catchers in the league, and is lauded by his teammates for his leadership abilities and a strong work ethic. He has struggled at the plate in the minors, but scouts are confident that he will be able to hold his own against BBA pitching. He may never win a Puckett, but there are sure to be many Zimmer awards joining that baseball in his trophy case.
