SURFERS GRAB MORE BATS IN ROUND TWO

Gary Tinstaap

June 1, 2052
Long Beach, CA

In the second round of the 2052 BBA Amateur draft, the Surfers held the 47th and 76th overall picks. As we mentioned previously, this draft class is one of the best the league has seen recently and these second round picks have decent shots at being BBA contributors in the future.

Round 2 / Pick 47
Image
LF Glenn Fox
B/T: L/L
Age: 21
Current: 6/9/8/7/5
Potential: 6/9/8/7/5
OFR: 6
OFE: 5
OFA: 6/12
SPD: 3
STL: 3
BR: 1

With the 5th pick in the second round, the Surfers picked 21 year old left fielder Glenn Fox, out of USMC College. Fox hits left handed and will likely be a platoon player in the BBA as he's shown a significant reduction in performance against southpaws. Gap power is his best skill, though he does posses solid HR power as well. He's appropriately developed for his age, and projects to start his professional career at the AA level. Assuming that he proves capable of hitting in the minor leagues, he could see time on the Surfers roster within the next year or two as a platoon left fielder or fourth/fifth outfielder.

OFP: 55 - 1st Division LF
Likely: 40 - 2nd Division LF
BBA ETA: 2053

Round 2 / Pick 76

2B Randy Stuard
B/T: L/R
Age: 19
Current: 7/4/1/6/7
Potential: 7/4/2/8/7
IF Range: 6
IF Error: 8
IF Arm: 6
TDP: 8
SPD: 4
STL: 4
BR: 8

With the 16th pick in the second round, the Surfers picked second baseman Randy "Big JR" Stuard, a 19 year old left handed hitter out of Staples College. He was previously drafted and unsigned by the Mexico City Aztecs in 2049. With limited defensive capabilities, Stuard will likely not be a regular on a BBA roster, but his above average eye and bat control could result in some time as a utility infielder. As with Fox before him, he projects to have difficulties hitting lefties going forward. Long Beach scouts laud his work ethic, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that he improves on his potentials as he spends time withe the coaching staff in the Surfers' system.

OFP: 50 - 1st Division UTIL
Likely: 40 - 2nd Division 2B
BBA ETA: 2054

Can't wait to see who you trade these guys to.
Sacramento Mad Popes (unretired)
-- Vic Caleca Team News Award Winner 2052
-- BBA Champion 2053
-- Pacific Champs 2040, 2042, 2043, 2047, 2048, 2049, 2051, 2053, 2054
Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

You added a lot of talent in this year's draft, assuming you signed all of them.

Thanks. Unfortunately I couldn't sign Miller Shed but pretty happy with the haul anyway.
