SURFERS PROSPECTS NEARING THE BIGS

March 19, 2051
Santa Catalina Island, CA

Welcome to the first installment of The Independent's feature on Long Beach Surfers' prospects, Dawn Patrol.

Our headliner prospect today is outfield prospect Abdul-Quddus bin Khair al Din. This young man has the distinction of holding the longest name in the organization and potentially the only BBA player ever traded because of a lengthy name. To quote Omaha Cyclones GM @niles08:

Well, he was traded back in 2046 for journeyman pitcher Terrence Kelly and the long wait is (maybe) almost over. He's still got some power to come in, but he was a non roster invitee to spring training this year and we could see him up with the big club within a year or two. If we're lucky, maybe we'll get to see him hit a few bombs at Morales field in Omaha.

On the pitching side of the register, we have exciting news about starter Lucas Wood. A 21 year old, Wood was drafted in the 5th round of the 2047 draft and made huge gains in his potential last season. From Short A in 2049, he skipped up to AA for just four starts before cutting his teeth at AAA Commerce for 19 starts. He's been a bit homer-prone against lefty batters, but his changeup and velocity have made significant progress. Once rated as below-average potential, it's now rating above average and scouts see more room for improvement. He's also sitting high-90s with the fastball and can touch 100 when needed.

Don't be surprised to see Wood debut in Long Beach later this spring.

I'm so happy to see him doing well, but hope you have his name quick saved or something on your computer to autopopulate. Kelly was fun for the short time he was good after heading over.

You should make his nickname "Copy-paste".
