Tchekanov Returns to Peak Performance

Long time Surfer Ace Danya Tchekanov is putting on a show this season. While he won't put up 8.4 WAR like he did in 2045, this is his best season since then. He could easily crack 6 WAR, and his sub-3 ERA would be the first since 2045 as well. He remains under contract through 2051 and is rumored to be amenable to an extension. It remains to be seen if the team is willing to meet his demands.

Delgado, Rookie Starters Struggle

After two seasons with a sub-4 ERA (including a 2.85 mark in 2048), Ernesto Delgado has slipped a bit this year. A significant increase in opponent BABIP is a likely contributor. Rookies Sam Rutgers (4.24 ERA) and Barry Short (6.33 ERA) are failing to live up to their mid-rotation potentials.

Morris Exceeding Expectations

After a cup of coffee last season, middle infielder Steveland Morris hit the ground running this season. He's hitting .273/.343/.364 with 48 stolen bases and is providing solid defense up the middle, splitting time between second base and shortstop.

Martinez Returns to Tank the Team

Gonzalo Martinez was welcomed back with open arms after playing the previous three seasons with the Sacramento Mad Popes, but it's not all sunshine and daisies. With a career OPS+ of 127, Martinez has never posted a number below 104 since his debut as a 19 year old in 2040. This season however, he's struggling to the tune of a 79 OPS+ and negative 1.1 WAR. The team will need a strong second half from the right handed DH if they have any hope of earning a Wild Card spot.
