2048.08 - Surfers Send Two to ASG

DELGADO COULD START IN FIRST ASG

July 9, 2048
Omaha, Nebraska

As the Surfers continue the grind of the championship season, attempting to maintain respectability and pretending to be wild card contenders, the 2048 All Star Game is upon us. The Frick League roster was announced yesterday by Justin Niles, with two Surfers receiving honors.

Starter Ernesto Delgado has been rewarded for his stellar season with his first ASG selection. To date, his stats are 2.57 ERA / 1.02 WHIP / 2.81 FIP, and according to Niles, he is in contention to start the game. Delgado, 27, is in his seventh BBA season, and is on track to make it a career year. In the offseason he signed a 5 year, $50 million deal to remain in Long Beach, and his performance so far has surpassed all expectations. In the voting, Delgado received 27 nominations, the most of any FL starting pitcher.

The second Surfer selected to the ASG is veteran Danya Tchekanov. Despite a slow for him start to the season, 3.24 ERA / 1.05 WHIP / 3.70 FIP, Tchekanov is still averaging nearly 9K/9 and remains one of the most talented pitchers in the league. This will be Tchekanov's 8th All Star Game.

Juan Hernández Snubbed?
Rookie Juan Hernández has been tormenting Frick League pitching since his mid-April call up, accumulating 3.1 offensive WAR in just 62 starts. The right hander from Guatemala is old for a rookie, 27, but we're not hesitating to call him an ASG snub, and a front runner for the Gillstrom at the end of the season. He's hitting .307/.357/.623 with 19 HR and 46 RBI.

lol

As someone who has loaded up the ASG roster with my own players the two times I've had the chance, there's no way I could complain about that!

I put Justin Marco on there once just to pad his AS stats to try and get him in the HOF.
