Suk-min Cho Promoted
After a paperwork snafu that left Stephen Shelton a minor league free agent in the offseason, the Surfers front office was happy that he was willing to resign with the team and become the presumptive strong side of a platoon at 1B for the 2048 season. Despite 8/8/7/6/8 ratings against righties, he's hitting just .196/.465/.250 against RHP in 32 games. This has reportedly earned him a demotion to AAA Commerce, as word has been received that IF/OF prospect Suk-min Cho has been called up to take his place.
Acquired in 2046 from the Charlotte Cougars, Cho has been a late bloomer but appears ready to perform at the BBA level. Scouts say he's got some in-game power still to develop, but his eye is top-notch, with scouts putting a 10 grade on it when he faces off against right handed pitching.
Top Pitching Prospect Improves
Sam Rutgers, 2047 first round draftee and Surfers' top pitching prospect has reportedly found another level of velocity in his most recent starts for the Yard Goats. Scouts are now reporting that he's sitting 97-99 with the fastball and in turn have bumped his stuff rating to 10. It appears that they 22 year old is just needing some polish before breaking into the bigs, with his overall rating still lagging behind his component ratings.
Johnson Better This Time 'Round
Starting pitcher Robin Johnson struggled last year in his cup of coffee, but he's living up to his potential now in his second go-round with the Surfers. He's got a 3.96 ERA and is averaging over 6 innings per start so far. He's certainly making a case to stick around in the rotation even after Rutgers arrives, whenever that will be. In combination with third baseman Juan Hernández (.333/.370/.623), he is making the 2046 trade with Charm City look like a stroke of genius for GM Stephen Lane.

Yeah Shelton's ratings are not good anymore in this league. I still get thrown completely off by the switch we made several seasons ago.

Yeah I think that's why I don't draft hitters anymore. I just don't understand how hitting ratings work these days.
