Ken Walter to IL
Ken Walter was placed on the IL today with back tightness, and the team expects him to be out at least two weeks. Walter's notorious injury troubles have been minimal during his time in Long Beach, this is only the second injury since he joined the team in 2046. The Surfers will apparently go with a 4 man rotation for now, not needing a 5th starter until April 30th in Portland.

Hernández to make Long Beach debut
Third base prospect Juan Hernández has reportedly been asked to report to Long Beach for the final game of the series with Chicago. The 27 year old was acquired by the Surfers as part of the deal that sent Gonzalo Martínez to Charm City. He's rated 8/8/8/5/7(8) by OSA and plays passable defense at the hot corner.

Brackett DFA'd
Second baseman Cary Brackett was waived and designated for assignment this morning, according to a team source. The righty showed promise in 2045 when he hit .240/.349/.405 in 63 games, but has hit progressively worse every season since then. Veteran Ángel García will likely slide over to 2B to make room for the aforementioned Hernández.

Garrett Recalled
To round out the 27 man roster (at least until April 30) the Surfers have called upon center fielder Al Garrett. Since opening day, Josh Mesh has been roaming center, and while you'd never hear him complain, his skillset is stretched to the max there. He also struggles a bit against LHP, so we expect Garrett to be a regular against southpaws and see time in CF as a defensive replacement against RHP.
