SAVAGE SOUTHPAW
Lefty reliever Eric Hughes is getting his first extended look in the BBA, and so far it's a mixed bag. As you would expect given his ratings he's death to left handed hitters, but when a righty is at the plate, he really struggles.
As OOTP OSA puts it, against lefties he's rated 22/10/5, and against righties it's 6/4/3.
He's faced 60 batters this year, 33 lefties and 27 righties. In those 33 PA's vs LHB, he's allowed just 1 hit (a double), 4 walks (12% rate), and has struck out 22 (67%). The resulting line is .034/.152/.069 (nice). It's a vastly different story against righties however, as they're hitting .435/.519/1.519 (ouch).
Maybe next season the LBC manager can figure out how to use the lefty specialist as an actual lefty specialist!
Simpson Continues Tear
Veteran switch hitter Mark Simpson continues to have an unbelievable year, racking up 2.5 WAR so far in just 49 starts (80 games total). He hasn't had a batting average over .231 since '43 but he's hitting .306/.450/.582 this year. The first baseman has been one of few bright spots on the team during this miserable season.
Beauregard McBunterson Promoted
Once a beloved, bright, and shiny prospect in the Sacramento Mad Popes cult, err, organization, 'Bunty' was unceremoniously dumped by the ruthless GM that they call shoeless. As the Surfers have demonstrated before, they care about their community, their fans, and all BBA players, because they're people too and they deserve respect. Beauregard has been welcomed back to the BBA with open arms and the Surfers continue to judge other clubs in the league for their inhumane actions.
