MORRIS PROMOTED, MELLILO PROGRESSING
Shortstop and 2046 First-Round Draftee, Steveland Morris has been promoted to Key West, Long Beach's Short Season A affiliate. Morris was hitting .284/.362/.336 since being drafted and has shown steady progression of his skills according to internal scouting reports.
Fellow 2046 draftee Ski Mellilo remains Cayucos, but has been showing improvement in his skills since draft day. Though some critics are skeptical, the Surfers are still very optimistic about his chances of becoming a BBA second baseman.
International Scouting Find Succeeding in R Ball
Devasarasa Puranjay, a third baseman, was scouted out of India in 2044 and made his rookie league debut this season. He's currently batting .283/.330/.398 and looks to have potential to be an average BBA third baseman. He's definitely a player to keep your eyes on along with Morris and Melillo.
Vega Injured, Again
Thirty-one year old Emilio Vega had gone 13 months without so much as a day to day injury, pitching over 50 innings between AA and AAA. With the Surfers completing a number of trades recently, he was called up to join the bullpen. After shoulder soreness in his first appearance, he suffered an injury to his acromioclavicular (AC) joint in his pitching shoulder. It's estimated that he'll be on the IL for 3 to 4 weeks.
