SURFERS NEWS AND NOTES
Surfers Sweep Hawaii
Recently billed as the Series of the Sim, the three game set in Honolulu was everything that the Surfers dreamed it could be. They outscored Hawaii 13-3 in the sweep to take the division lead for the first time this season.
Mad Popes Still Mad
The Donkeagle Press continues to hurl insults at Long Beach, though the Surfers seem unbothered. They're 8-4 against them this season, and today have a chance to complete a sweep of a four game set at home.
Weekend Series with Nine
The Surfers will be tested this weekend against the Yellow Springs Nine, who seem to be playing on a different plane of existence than the rest of the league, maintaining a .710 winning percentage. Long Beach won just 1 of 3 games against the Nine earlier this season in Ohio, and look to at least even the season series this time around. They've lined their pitching up to have Danya Tchekanov start the first game.
Lozano on Record Pace
Cornelio Lozano has flourished in his first season as a full-time reliever and is on pace to set a BBA record for K/9. The record is currently held by Nashville reliever Lorenzo de'Medici, who recorded 17.57 K/9 in 2043. Lozano is currently punching out his opponents at a rate of 18.7/9. He's currently battling Tchekanov for the team lead in WAR, sitting at 5.5 to Tchekanov's 5.2.
