STAR RELIEVER'S SEASON IN JEOPARDY

May 6, 2036
Long Beach, CA

Team doctor Martin Melancon confirmed the diagnosis of a torn labrum for Felix Alvarado today. The 32 year old offseason acquisition had pitched 24 innings this season, with a 2.59 ERA. Signed in January to a 1 year $5MM deal, Alvarado was seen as one of the key pieces to the Surfers bullpen, along with Lee McHone, Kellen Scherer, and fellow newcomer Dillon Young.

While not a devestating blow to the teams chances in 2036, the loss of Alvarado creates a significant hole in the bullpen. No word was immediately available regarding who would be called up from Santa Fe to fill his spot.

Alvarado is expected to miss four, or even five months. At best, we anticipate his return to the team in mid-September by which time we hope that there will still be meaningful games to contribute to.

In brighter news today, starter Allain Jolivet has joined the Young Guns as they return home from their most recent road trip. Jolivet is scheduled to start today against the Gotham Heroes and is expected to throw 3-5 innings.

The oft-injured Belgian lefty is recovering from an oblique strain suffered during spring training. The front office declined to say how many rehab starts they had planned for Jolivet, and we anticipate it may depend on how well Diogo Lindt does on his next turn through the rotation.

Jolivet could be a sweet RP conversion if he doesn't make it as a starter.
