An exclusive club for those who contributed significantly to the franchise over a minimum of seven seasons. Membership in the BBA Hall of Fame is not required, but is a significant factor.

Alberto ‘Pop’ Guzman, 1B

2005-2017 (LBC&TCS)

HOF Class of 2022

Guzman was a first round pick and played 13 seasons with the Long Beach Surfers (including partial season after the move to Tucson). He amassed 75.8 WAR in his career, with over 60 of that coming in a Surfers uniform. Guzman was a 12 time All-Star and 3 time MVP. His career line of .300/.401/.549 is good for a 145 OPS+ and is more than worthy of a HOF plaque and the retirement of his number in Long Beach.

Juan Heredia, CF

2004-2016

HOF Class of 2026

The switch-hitting Heredia was a threat on both sides of the ball. The two time Yogi Zimmer award winner was a 5 time All-Star and compiled 84.4 WAR in his career. His .306/.381/.449 career slash was good for a 116 OPS+ and his career year saw him post 11.7 WAR while leading the league in PA, AB, R and H (250). That year, he slashed .363/.434/.533 along with a +37.8 ZR in CF. It was truly an outstanding season to highlight an exceptional career worth of HOF induction, and a retired number.

Ted Sale, 1B

1985-2007

HOF Class of 2009

Right hander Ted Sale spent his entire career with the Long Beach Surfers. In his esteemed career, he hit .287/.376/.495 good for a 132 OPS+. He had four seasons of 8 WAR or better, peaking at 9.0 in 1993 when he hit .322/.388/.581. A picture of longevity and consistency he did not post an OPS+ below 100 in any season excepting his first and last. This all time great is more than worth of his place in the BBA Hall of Fame, and is long overdue for the honor of the franchise retiring his #79.
