2052.02 - Shark Bites - May 12, 2052

2,500 HITS AND SOME SORE SHOULDERS

Welcome back to Shark Bites, the publication where I squeeze what could be multiple articles into one article because I'm lazy and never spend the points anyway.

Congratulations are in order for Alex Ramírez, who got his 2,500th hit yesterday, May 11, 2052 against the Omaha Cyclones. It's a fitting opponent, as the Future Hall of Fame third baseman will likely receive votes for the Hall from every GM except the one from Omaha. Honestly I'm looking forward to how @niles08 justifies not voting for a player with stellar defense at the hot corner, has a line of.274/.357./.489 and will likely eclipse 80 WAR before retirement.

Demerits are in order for Surfers Team Trainer Pepe Hogeda, following the loss of pitchers Ernesto Delgado and Lucas Wood for the next 4-5 and 2-3 months, respectively. Mr. Hogeda has had a stellar run with the Surfers since joining the team in 2039, so we're not calling for his head yet, but it's undeniable that this loss will hurt the Surfer's outlook for this season significantly.

No word yet on who will fill the two rotation spots, but likely one will go to Sam Rutgers who looks to make good on his 10th overall draft selection in his return from a UCL reconstruction that seems to have sapped some of his potential.

The Surfers are currently 17-19 and host the Seattle Storm Monday through Thursday before traveling to Valencia and Hawaii for a six game road trip.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I think he is a pretty clear guy to be on my ballot. 120+ OPS+ to go along with excellent defense, which gives him that WAR near 80. He also played shortstop for a full season or he'd likely already be at 80.
