2049.03 - Shark Bites - April 28 - Rutgers Rumors!

RUTGERS TO DEBUT?

Long Beach top pitching prospect Sam Rutgers was spotted at VCM Stadium earlier today. He last pitched for the Yard Goats on the 25th, so unless he's slated for a bullpen role, we likely won't see him pitch before the Surfers fly to Vancouver. The cavernous Northwoods Outpost could be an ideal location for Rutgers to make his BBA debut. The twenty three year old was the 10th overall pick in the 2047 amateur draft.

Camacho Promoted

Minor league free agent signee José Camacho has reportedly been instructed to join the Surfers today for their game against the Seattle Storm. The right handed hitter will make $3.5 million and will likely see most of his time against left handed starters, of which the team could see three this week. As is recent tradition, the Surfers have struggled against LH starting pitchers this year, going winless in 5 opportunities.

Simpson Milestone Watch

The ageless Mark Simpson recorded his 1500th RBI in Monday's 13-1 drubbing of the Seattle Storm. His recent hot streak has also brought him to 2499 career hits and 548 HR. Fans in Long Beach are reportedly waiting for the team record to move back over .500 before actually attending games to witness these historic feats.

Hoping that back soreness was isolated for Rutgers.

Hearty congrats to Mark Simpson, who also has the distinction of being from Laurinburg, NC--a very small town that produces a ton of professional athletes.
