WHIV 2005 Vol. 2- Rivero aims to finish career in Vegas
Veteran Rivero Re-Ups in Las Vegas
Tuesday, November 30th, 2004: Team officials triumphantly announced that the Hustlers and superstar right fielder Benjamin Rivero have closed a deal that keeps the 34-year-old in a Las Vegas uniform for another 3 years. Rivero will earn $38,880,000 with the contract.
Rivero boasts a lifetime batting average of .291 with 2043 hits, 330 homers, 1076 runs scored and 1104 RBIs.
Rivero was acquired on 06/11/2000, when he was traded by the Des Moines Kernels to the Las Vegas Hustlers in exchange for 3B Randy Square, CF Diego Pérez. Square was disappointing for the Kernels and was dealt to the Seattle Storm. He recently was released and hit the free agent market. Perez, meanwhile, has been one of the most frustrating players in the league, posting double digit negative VORP totals in each of the past two seasons for Des Moines.
