WHIV 2058.21- One Last Experiment...

Post by recte44 » Mon Mar 11, 2024 3:05 pm

The All-Star break couldn't come soon enough for the Las Vegas Hustlers. They are truly sputtering. A few weeks ago it looked like the JL Frontier Division was going to be theirs for the taking. Now, it's not even a sure bet they will make the playoffs as an eight seed. "What a difference a few weeks can make," said manager Henry Rectenberg. "We are playing horse shit right now, that's for certain."

While it appears that the Hustlers are down and out, Rectenberg has something else he's going to give a shot, for at least the first four games out of the break. "We're moving all of our starting pitchers to the bullpen, labeling no bullpen roles at all, and we're going to a three man rotation with extremely low pitch counts," he said, with audible gasps heard throughout the room.

"We'll start Kyle McKinlay in Game 1, Phillipe Lucas in Game 2, Carlos Berrera in Game 3, and then right back to Kyle for Game 4," said Rectenberg.

This means the Hustlers bullpen now includes long time starting pitchers like Jose Barron, Mike Alexander, Mahad Einan along with Edgar Sosa and Bret Harrell.

In another move, the Hustlers announced they are purchasing the contract of outfielder Scotty Beemeup from Milwaukee (AAA). Beemeup, 34 years old, was producing well against RHML pitching, but he's here for his leadership. "A true captain," said Rectenberg. "We're trying whatever we can to pull ourselves out of this spiral, and we won't stop until we start winning or Recte starts trading everyone," Rectenwald explained.

I love the idea of the 3-man rotation.

I did it last season with 4 starters.

3 is a bold move Cotton. I'm intrigued.
