WHIV 2005 Vol. 1: Hustlers bid farewell to Stucky, Adolph

Post by recte44 » Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:19 am

Unwilling to pay big money to these veteran bench players, the Las Vegas Hustlers allowed Jason Stucky and Chuck Adolph to leave the team and explore the free agency market.

"We're sure both of them will have several interested parties contacting them immediately," Hustlers General Manager Matt Rectenwald said. "We wish them well. If the prices go down, we might explore bringing one or both back, but we expect to go cheaper on the bench this year."

Many teams across the league who have been "at the top" for a while will see their ability to outspend everyone else fade a bit this year, as league financial controls have successfully generated more parity. Rectenwald, who is also the MBWBA Commissioner, spoke on this:

"Though some of the larger market teams have been outspoken on this, we had to make some moves," Rectenwald said. "It was clear that there are teams in this league that don't have a chance from Day 1 of the season. We've had the same playoff teams year in and year out, over and over. Teams such as my own team will have to control their spending a bit more so that teams such as the Long Beach Surfers will be able to compete, so teams like the Chicago Black Sox can compete."

How can a guy be a GM of a team and commissioner? He can be fired as a GM but still be a Commissioner who can then sanction the owner?

CONFLICT OF INTEREST!!! ;)

On the other hand, it costs only 3 Team News for a cash-rich team to up its budget by $30m, or $120m, whichever is higher.
