WHIV 2058.6- Hustlers Gambled And Won Rudge Back

10/17/2057 Wins the 2057 BBA JL Doubleday Series MVP Award.
11/03/2057 Las Vegas Hustlers voided the team option year for a buyout of $2,800,000.
11/16/2057 Became a free agent.
12/01/2057 Signed a 3-year contract worth a total of $31,000,000 with the Las Vegas Hustlers organization.
It was a strange run of events. Tom Rudge, #23, Las Vegas Hustlers legend was actually not a Hustler for about two weeks. Why? What were the Hustlers doing?

"We took a big gamble in order to help manage the Salary Cap," explained assistant GM Cisco Arreola, pictured above with the look of relief after Rudge re-signed. "Recte gave me one job, and that was to make sure we could essentially restructure Tom's deal. Thankfully it worked out, otherwise Recte said I would be shopping for a job elsewhere."

Rudge, for what it's worth. seemingly had bigger offers elsewhere but little interest in moving on from the Hustlers. "This is my team, and I don't abandon ship," explained the 38 year old star. "Cisco set me up so if I play well, and more importantly stay healthy, I can actually make a little more money than I would have on the old deal. I also have all of this sweet cologne money coming in, so I'm good. I told Cisco to use some of the money up front and get us some pitching. He said he didn't know if Recte was going to let him do another damn thing all offseason but the people in the front office who are actually allowed to do something certainly would find some pitching. Cisco's a funny dude, I tell you."

Hard to believe the risk was worth it, especially considering it’s more total expense, but it worked out and you know what you’re doing.

I had just a shitton of extra money, and I didn't use it correctly, so it was worth it for me to shell out the buyout and perhaps a bunch of bonuses to lower the cap number by $4M
