WHIV 2058.3- Longtime Pursuit of Casson Finally Over for Vegas

The Valencia Stars chose Carlton Casson in the second round of the 2038 draft. He failed to sign, sat out the entire 2039 season, and then returned to college before being selected by Montreal as the ninth overall pick in the 2042 draft. Casson could pitch, he could hit. He could possibly be the unicorn of them all, the one and only true two-way player.

There are those in Las Vegas' front office that have been lusting after Casson for years. "I think it's since he was coming out of college," said GM Matt Rectenwald. "He was such an interesting case because of the year off, and the fact that he never even pitched in college (just two games in 2037). We were on his trail, no doubt. We've tried to trade for him numerous times over the years. When he finally became a free agent last season we thought we had him, but ironically Valencia sniped him. So this season we decided enough was enough. Casson would be a Hustler."

So here he is. Sure, he's 37 years of age and the end of his career is closer than he would admit, but Casson is a perfect fit for the Hustlers. He's a solid left-handed reliever, and a lefty power bat, that hasn't changed much. "Maybe more of a hitter than a pitcher these days some might say," said Casson with a chuckle. "I just play ball. Put me in there somewhere, skip."

He won't be a full-timer, but he'll make an impact nonetheless. "We are just glad he's finally a Hustler," said Rectenwald.
