Placed RP Pablo Alcantara on the secondary (40-man) roster.
Placed RP Pablo Alcantara on the active roster.
Veteran Alcantara was signed to a BBA deal, brought right up at roster expansion, hit hard in two outings against Jacksonville, and now finds himself on waivers/DFA after the first sim.

Placed RP Weston Hand on the secondary (40-man) roster.
Purchased the contract of RP Weston Hand from Triple A Milwaukee.
The Hustlers have a rich tradition of rewarding long time "organizational soldiers" with late season promotions. (see: Davis Gordon, for example). Hand, 32 years old, has certainly earned his promotion. He was a ninth round pick way back in 2042 and has been pitching in the Las Vegas minor league system ever since. 307 appearances. The last seven seasons all at Milwaukee (AAA). Over the last three seasons he has been a highly reliable pitcher for the Choppers, this year being just another solid year from Hand (28 G, 17 GS, 10-6, 3.77 ERA, 124 IP, 5 HRA, 35 BB, 111 K, 1.38 WHIP despite a .345 BABIP, 3.06 FIP, 3.1 WAR). He made his BBA debut in relief at San Antonio on 9/7/2056, pitching three innings in relief, allowing 2 runs on three hits, striking out three and walking none.

Purchased the contract of CF Joshua Zorn from Triple A Milwaukee.
Zorn was acquired from Rockville in late July to help with center field depth and leadership. He didn't produce at all at the plate, and was sent to Milwaukee (AAA). He's back now, mostly for his leadership.

Placed SP Kyle McKinlay on the secondary (40-man) roster.
Purchased the contract of SP Kyle McKinlay from Triple A Milwaukee.
Vegas signed him to a minor league deal halfway through August, and placed him in Milwaukee. He started three games there and was brilliant (1.88 ERA, 24 IP, 18 H, 2 BB, 15 K, 0.83 WHIP). Placed in the Hustlers' pen, he's pitched twice, effectively, both times on the road. Has never really put it together in the BBA (91 career appearances, 5.09 ERA, 1.52 WHIP).

Placed RP Patrick Whitlock on the secondary (40-man) roster.
Purchased the contract of RP Patrick Whitlock from Triple A Milwaukee.
A veteran of nine BBA and two GBC seasons, Whitlock was signed along with McKinley in August. Like McKinley, he has already produced two outstanding relief appearances for the Hustlers. Also of note, apparently he pitched in one game for us in 2051 and I don't remember that.

Purchased the contract of 3B Jibril Qasim from Triple A Milwaukee.
Versatile utility infielder has had an outstanding year at Milwaukee (.324/.420/.426/.847 in 88 games) and has earned his second promotion to the Hustlers after appearing in four games earlier this year. Will add depth.

Purchased the contract of 1B Francisco De La Torre from Double A Reno.
This is the poster child for how contact just may be the most underrated rating in the game today. All he does is hit. And so far, in 9 BBA at-bats (this year and last year), he is 6-for-9 with a .667 AVG. No real position although he can technically play catcher, first base and "supposedly" second base, but his real position will be "pinch-hitter".

Placed RP GIl Phillips on the secondary (40-man) roster.
Purchased the contract of RP GIl Phillips from Triple A Milwaukee.
He's your average, everyday LOOGY. Vegas hasn't had a good LOOGY in quite some time, so he'll get an opportunity to stick.

Placed C Bryan Harris on the secondary (40-man) roster.
Purchased the contract of C Bryan Harris from Triple A Milwaukee.
A veteran all-glove, no-hit backup catcher, he has followed the long road back and now is back in the BBA for the first time since 2048.
To make some room on the 40 man:
RP Brian Smith was designated for assignment and placed on waivers.
RP Don Jaramillo was designated for assignment and placed on waivers.
RP Mauro Ríos was designated for assignment and placed on waivers.
