WHIV 2053.1- Hustlers Off To Good Start (News and Notes)

Post by recte44 » Tue Dec 06, 2022 5:23 pm

April 21, 2053

11-7, 1 GB (behind MEX)

The previews stating the Hustlers were going to be strong on the mound and weak at the plate seem to be 100% correct. Vegas management thought maybe it would be the other way around but the hurlers have proven to be the straw that stirs the drink thus far.

The starting five have been solid across the board. Vegas may have surprised many when they decided to go with Ashton Brooks in the rotation after a strong Spring showing but it seems to have been the right move thus far. Two non-roster invitees made the club in the bullpen in Roberto Ramirez and Shinsaku Ine, and both have been effective thus far.

The struggle, strangely enough, has been at the back of the bullpen as Lorenzo de' Medici and Renato Lacerda have had their bumps early on.

Ernesto Sousa, Kidane Ata and Tom Rudge have carried the club. There is plenty of concern at the other lineup spots, though Prieto (for one) has heated up over the past week.

Your defense up the middle is fantastic with Turton, Burel and Ata.

It's so important in OOTP.

Brooks was ass for 1.5 years until you got your hands on him. I’d completely written him off.

don't worry, I'm not counting on this sticking for him (see his last start).

I sometimes forget that the other major OOTP quirk is the penalty if your 2b/ss aren't top defensive players. Clearly had forgotten that entirely with a certain someone...

You can tell just by who was drafted this year in the 1st round.

In my offline games I've always been thrilled to have an 8 range SS. In this league, that guy is -10 UZR. It's tough because my general baseball preference is to lean in on offense.

Same. I'm going to struggle a bit this year as a result but hopefully can regroup and basically ignore what I like to do for what I should do. Going to be a little hard but I'll figure it out.

I hope.
