Executed the contract year option of SP Kevin Morales.
Las Vegas upper management had two fairly easy calls to make when it came to deciding to execute the team option years of right-handers Likiliki and Morales.
Likiliki, 31 years old, did not start a game for the first year in his career. Used in relief, he had a great season (1.4 WAR, 39 G, 6-3, 53 IP, 18 BB, 66 K, 2.21 ERA, 0.92 WHIP). This marked the second year in a row he had a WHIP under 1.00. His salary of $1.4 million for 2048 represents a radical underpay, making him a great value.
Morales, 35 years old, is back on his second team option year after a solid 2047 campaign. His 3.8 WHIP was the highest he'd posted since the 2040 season. Morales is now 26 wins from the 200 club, and he thinks he might have a chance to get there. "I really want to get that number," admitted Morales. "It's just a number, but it means something special."
