With that headline, we've certainly put some kind of karmic hex on the Hustlers. One can only hope that the devastation to the Hustlers pitching staff is soon to be over.
Stan Cyr was cleared to pitch at the end of Spring Training, but didn't appear in a Spring game. The club sent him to Milwaukee (AAA) to start on a strict pitch count. His first start back was a bit of a nightmare, but the second start was much, much better. The plan? Stretch him out in the minors slowly, then re-assess in a couple of weeks.
Martin Ross healed up nicely from last year's ulnar nerve entrapment, and was named the Hustlers' Opening Day starter.
Drees Geestman was shut down last year with forearm inflammation. He rested and recovered and is back in the starting rotation to start the year.
It looks like it may be late May/early June before Dominic Thompson is ready to start his comeback from a torn rotator cuff, and boy do the Hustlers need him as the bullpen is a mess.
Then there's Brian King, also recovering from a torn rotator cuff. It'll be late July before he's ready for a rehab assignment. He was well on his way to becoming the staff ace. Hopefully, he'll come back better than ever.
