WHIV 2045.17- What We Figured Out (Position Players)

1) We have a catcher for the long term, and then some. Calvin Johnson is the perfect catcher for us. He is a premier defensive catcher and can also hold his own with the bat. Reggie Leeper and Geoff Combs are more than capable of serving as backups, in fact either one wouldn't kill the club in a starting role if necessary.

2) The double play combo of Stewart Turton and Damek Korbel is quite good. In fact, they may very well qualify as "elite".

3) Jim Ashford will be one of the corner outfielders. He had a difficult middle of his season but came back on late. Too talented of a hitter to move on from.

4) Tom Rudge is actually quite valuable. He had his best year in a long time, didn't hurt the club in center field, and as a righty is really looking forward to the new park.

5) Carlos Fernandez is a stud. Despite leading the JL Rookies in nearly ever single batting category, he is being written off as an afterthought by Gillstrom Award voters. Doesn't matter. We love the kid.
