WHIV 2045.16- What We Figured Out (Pitching)
September 26, 2045

Fun fact: Did you know that the Las Vegas Hustlers in 2045 had the third best Starters ERA in the Johnson League? Surprised? You shouldn't be. Also, bear in mind that they have reached that level despite doing a ton of trying out different starters, twelve different starters to be exact.

So here's what we figured out. It's not normal for a team like this to have four of their five starters set for next year, but the Hustlers do.

1. Drees Geestman is not only the Hustlers' ace, he's also one of the top starting pitchers in the BBA.
He's a bulldog. Innings eater. Iron Man. 3.84 FIP this year and last year. Yes, exactly (as of this writing). That's in a hitters park. What happens next year when the new ballpark opens? We can't wait.

2. Brian King is emerging as a guy who should be a really valuable 2/3 starter.
He led the Hustlers with 12 wins. Second in strikeouts with 117. Took the ball when called upon. Vegas shut him down effectively over the last few weeks because of innings concerns. The only thing that could stop him is himself and his "fragile" frame.

3. No one will benefit more from the new park than Stan Cyr.
He got several chances this year and as expected, there were great and not so great moments. He was mostly hurt by the gopher ball. This should be less of an issue for him next year.

4. September has given us some proof for our faith in Nathaniel Davis.
4 starts, 22.2 innings, 12 K's, 2.78 ERA. Like Cyr he had plenty of ups and downs this year but he'll be penciled in to the fourth rotation slot next year.

That’s an impressive looking starting 4! Not much seems to separate No. 1 from No. 4 on the ratings front, assuming Davis hits his full potential - brighter days ahead for the Hustlers.

There’s plenty more pitching in the next wave

The same can be said about Nashville...except they're all #4's.

King took a long time to get here, but you've got to be happy for him.
