Hustlers Owner Dead, Las Vegas Mourns
Saturday, July 22nd, 2045

The Las Vegas Hustlers announced today that team owner Steve Goodman had died today of natural causes. A team spokesman told reporters that funeral arrangements were undecided at this time. It has been expected for some time that Goodman's son would succeed him as owner. Steve Goodman Jr. has been deeply involved in the club's operation in recent years and the transfer of ownership should run smoothly. Fiscally, Goodman Jr. is said to be charitable and lenient in character.

The death of Goodman comes at a pivotal time for the Las Vegas Hustlers. The Hustlers and Station Casinos, Inc. have been engaged in not so secret talks for some time now. Nicco Fertitta, Jr., the principle officer of Station Casinos, has been spotted frequently with Goodman, Jr. all around town. Inquiries to the Zoning Commission uncovered that a previously unknown company named LVHSCI has been buying up all of the land surrounding the Palace Station Hotel and Casino. In fact, they have now acquired every single parcel within Sahara Drive, Teddy Drive down through Wynadotte Street and Rancho Drive, just west of the Las Vegas Parkway. They have also acquired five blocks on the east side of the Parkway, from Sahara Drive east to Sammy Davis Jr. drive and south to Wilbur Clark Di West Road.

Investigating just who the mysterious company named LVHSCI was not too difficult. It was registered to both Goodman, Jr. and Fertitta, Jr. with Goodman, Jr. holding 51% of the ownership and Fertitta, Jr. holding 49%. When contacted for comment, Goodman, Jr. said "there will be a press conference soon, after we mourn the death of my father".

Steve Goodman (the elder) has been owner of the Las Vegas Hustlers for decades following in the footsteps of his father, Oscar Goodman, Jr. Just last month he was quoted as saying "The Las Vegas Hustlers are the legacy of my family in this town. I truly hope they will always be in the family."

Many Hustlers alumni had kind words for their former boss.

Hall of Fame catcher Hank Brewer said on Twitter, "Today we mourn the passing of a legend. Steve was first class, all the way. Rest in peace, boss."

Former Hustlers relief ace Shawn Huber, now with Twin Cities, also paid his respects on Instagram. "Losing Steve hurts. He was one hell of an owner, and even a better man. My thoughts are with his family and my Hustlers family."
