Team Trainer Trevor Singleton, in his second year with the Las Vegas Hustlers, walked into manager Elroy Futon's office about an hour after the April 23rd win against the Long Beach Surfers.

"I've got some news," Singleton said to Futon. "When we pulled Jonathan Salott out of the game in the ninth, he was complaining of some soreness in his arm. I can't yet tell you how long he's going to be out. We'll have to do some more tests."

Futon shook his head. "I'm counting on a lot of youngsters as it is. Thankfully we have Ernest Nilson (who already has 3 saves). Maybe we'll call up that kid, Paul "Worm" Hogan, from Milwaukee."

"Well...." Singleton began, looking despaired. "Hogan came out of his start tonight after just an inning. I just got the call from the boys in Milwaukee. More tests pending. We'll know more in a few days."

"When it rains, it pours," said Futon. "I should probably get on the horn with Rectenwald and have him start looking for veteran relievers on the trade market. I knew it was a gamble to let all those guys go."

"Injuries plus 48 more roster spots in the majors mean we're going to see some of the ultimate "AAAA" guys get their shots this year. I love it, personally."

From the mouths of babes.... :D
