GM: "Okay folks. Spring training is over and the season is about to begin. I'm sure you have many questions so lets get to it."

Goldie: "Well the obvious question is who all made the 27 man roster?"

GM: "Right you are. However the core of the team remains pretty much the same since the Landis title just 2 seasons ago. It would be easier to just go over the actual new guys. SP Antonio Gonzalez made the team as the fifth starter. He has bounced around the minors before latching on here. The results weren't anything to write home about but the scouts have been impressed and have upgraded their scouting assessment of him. We will give him a good long look. Lefty reliever Oginga Coujoe. Perhaps a bit of an overpay but we wanted a quality lefty should anything happen to Shawn Huber. Rounding out the list is righty reliever Santiago Serrano. Pretty much the same story as Coujoe. Paid a bit more than value probably but a solid addition to the pen. For now he will be the long man and look to eat innings for us. That's pretty much it. 24 of the 27 man roster are already known quantities around here."

Soik: "How would you respond to critics saying that the lack of big signing represents a failed offseason?"

GM: "Well I haven't really heard anything like that but I will address it. We won 101 and 97 games the last 2 seasons. Is it really worth dipping into the farm system to improve those numbers? Its a very real possibility that we fall back a bit this season but the farm system has been steadily improving the last 2 seasons and we can see some real talent on its way up. If we can hang on until those reinforcements arrive we can stabilize everything without sacrificing anymore of the future. That's the plan anyway."

Jenkins: "Leeeeeeeerrrrrrooooooyyyyy Jeeeennnnnnkkkkiiiiinnnnnnssssss!"

GM: "Yes, yes Leroy. For now both SP Johnny Hale and OF Jim Ashford will report to AAA. Neither of them have any AAA experience and while some of the scouts say they are ready to go, we are going to take the long term approach here. We'd like Hale to improve his repertoire a bit and Ashford has to work on avoiding the strikeout a bit more. I fully expect both of them to make an appearance in the big leagues this season."

Soik: "We hear all the time about those two. Is there anyone else to be excited about?"

GM: "Fair question. Some names to maybe keep an eye on. C Zach Reid, SS Fernando Martinez, 3B Kinfu Lugano, SP Lorenzo Mejia, RP Miguel Abline, RP Elias Gregory, and a bunch more who are a bit farther off. I hope you are happy. That was exhausting. I'm out."
