GM: "Good evening folks. Lets get right to it. Questions?"
Goldie: "Looks like there was 1 minor league transaction last week. Tokichiro Yamaguchi a free agent pitcher was signed. What's the plan there?"
GM: "Well as you know it looks like we will be without Wayne Jackson for at least another month and we needed another lefty arm. We called up Manuel Romano as an emergency move but we like what Yamaguchi brings a bit better. We will likely use both as stop gaps until Jackson comes back. Yes?"
Soik: "It was a good week for the Hustlers especially this last game getting an important win against a division rival. How do you feel about how the season has gone so far?"
GM: "I'm already on record as saying its too soon to draw any conclusions. We obviously like that we sit at 10-6. Sure beats being 2-16 like the Fighting Frenchies over in Idaho anyway. Again though its very early. Injuries can change things at a moments notice and anyone can get hot for a few weeks and completely change how the standings look. Check back with me mid-May and maybe we can actually talk about some things."
Goldie: "The offense has been a bit underwhelming so far this season. How is the team managing to win games?"
GM: "Great question. In a vacuum I have to admit that our offense likely won't be up amongst the league leaders at seasons end. We have depth but we don't have that name brand star that will put up ridiculous numbers. Not yet anyway. What we do have is a bunch of good young players all around the diamond that are still growing and play great defense. Its entirely possible that someone steps up and becomes a star but more than likely if we are going to make some noise this season its going to be on the strength of our pitching and specifically the bullpen. A quick glance at the stat sheets shows a lot of low double digit rankings for our offense and a lot of top 3 marks for our pitching. We plan to leverage our great team defense to prop up the pitching even more and maybe, just maybe, we can make a move or two to bring some thunder to the lineup. Well boys and gals, I have a tee time."
